Simple Ways To Good Health
1. Shop for
groceries yourself. Look for fresh fruits and vegetables.
2. Follow the
golden rule of - " No feasting or fasting" even for a single meal.
3. Remember to
include two vegetables and one fruit in every meal. Retain the peels of
vegetables- like potato/ carrots while cooking.
4. Have a
variety of coloured vegetables and fruits through the week.
5. Cook the
healthy way - with less salt and oil. Avoid too much of deep-frying or
overcooking of vegetables.
6. Remember the
famous proverb- "Eat breakfast like an emperor, lunch like a prince and dinner
like a pauper". Avoid overeating at the end of the day.
7. Do not nap
immediately after a meal; give a gap of an hour to allow for proper digestion.
8. Eat just to
the point of fullness. Don't stuff yourself.
9. Make meal
times an interesting family experience- sitting together at the table. Avoid
watching TV or reading while eating.
10. Opt for
healthy nutritious milkshakes instead of soft drinks like colas, pop sodas etc.
11. Do not rush
through meals. Set aside enough time to appreciate and enjoy them.
12. Chew your
food well and eat slowly. It helps you digest your food properly and eat less.
13. Drink a
minimum of 8-10 glasses of water every day.
14. Make sure
you get a good night's sleep every night.
15. Kick the old
smoking habit and restrict the alcohol consumption.
16. Watch out
for stress related munching or snacking. Nibble on a fruit or a vegetable and
resist the urge for high calorie foods.
17. Include a
salad with every meal.
18. Eat homemade
ice creams, cakes etc. than the bought variety. This way you can be sure of
eating goodies packed with natural goodness. Stay away from junk food.
19. Take time
off to exercise regularly- enjoy a 20-minute brisk invigorating walk each
morning. Balance your life style. Devote equal time each week to work and fun.
